Recieving Reiki healing

What is Reiki healing?

The healing art of Reiki is a complete Japanese spiritual system, best known in the West for its component of hands-on healing. Rei means universal, and Ki is to Chi or Qi from Tai Chi or Qi gong, or Prana in Sanskrit, meaning energy, or life force.

A practitioner usually channels this life force energy through their hands to aid the client’s body in healing and balancing energy where required. Practitioners can use hands-on or off, placing their hands on or over the client's body to facilitate the flow of energy.

For a practitioner, meditation is an important foundational aspect, as are the “Precepts”, 5 guiding principles.

In a hands-on healing capacity, it’s commonly practised one-on-one but can be adopted to group environments.

What are the benefits of Reiki?

  • Reiki is commonly used to improve physical, emotional and spiritual well-being

  • Reduces stress, anxiety, and pain

  • Promotes relaxation and enhances deep sleep

As Reiki is considered a safe and non-invasive therapy, with no known side effects, it can be easily and safely incorporated into wellness experiences.

What are the Reiki Precepts?

Usui Mikao Sensei developed the complete system of what we refer to as Reiki, or Usui Reiki, as a path to enlightenment.

The Precepts, one of 5 pillars of Reiki practice, are five core guiding principles for daily living, focusing on mindfulness and positive action.

While Reiki is commonly known for its healing touch, these precepts play a part in building a strong foundation, guiding practitioners towards balanced and harmonious states of being.

Their emphasis is on living in the present moment, releasing any negativity, and cultivating compassion for oneself (as a given) and extended to the world beyond, to achieve peace, harmony, balance and spiritual growth.

The Precepts address internal states such as anger, worry and fear, and behaviours such as honesty, kindness and a practice of gratitude for personal and holistic well-being.

Meditated on as “For today only” to anchor the practice to the present moment, reminding practitioners to focus on the current day's actions rather than on any past mistakes or future fears.

UsuiMikao

Usui Reiki was founded by Usui Mikao, born on August 15, 1865, in the small village of Taniai in Japan’s Gifu Prefecture. After spending 21 days in quiet fasting and meditation on Mount Kurama, he shaped what would become the Reiki healing system in 1922. Usui passed away on March 9, 1926, leaving behind a tradition devoted to inner growth, balance, and healing.
