Retreat ~ when and why?!
What does it mean to retreat?
Word origin :
from Latin retrahere to pull back
from Old French retret, from retraire to withdraw
Why retreat? what might we be “pulling back” or “withdrawing” from and why might it be necessary?
Life has it’s way of ebbing and flowing. Part of the flow of life, as with the weather, are storms that are outside of our control.
These storms may present in office politics, financial or relationship troubles, sickness or loss in any of it’s forms. Grief, sorrow, loss, love and joy are all part of the very human experience of life on Earth.
"And once the storm is over, you won't remember how you made it through, and how you managed to survive. You won't even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won't be the same person who walked in. That's what this storm's all about."
Haruki Murakami
Retreat can provide a beneficial way to restore equilibrium if and when life feels out of balance, or at those times of it feeling just too much!
Retreat can provide a necessary time out to readjust the sails and strengthen before getting back into it again.
Retreat can provide a way to reconnect with your inner self, and importantly your own inner guidance.
Retreat can provide a time to refocus on what’s truly important and find gratitude for the light that will surely reappear.
Life has a way of providing what we need, and sometimes when we least expect it to. The trick is to go gently.
Learn to retreat when necessary. Treat yourself to your own loving kindness, or reach out to a supportive friend, ally or network.
Learn to differentiate when time out on your own is exactly what you need, and gift that to yourself, and when connection is going to provide a sense of necessary support.
If a mini Reiki retreat can be of support, we are here and will be honoured
to facilitate it for you.
